Brave kids

Kaden had his 9 month appointment today. (A little late I know, but the last couple weeks have been a little busy.) :o) He weighs almost 22 lbs and I'm a horrible mother and don't remember how tall he is. I just know that he's kind of evening out, and growing into himself. He is now in the 70th percentile in height and weight. He is such a good boy. He got shots, but only cried until I picked him up. He did such a great job!

This is the angle I see Kaden from most often, he always pulls himself up on my legs when he wants to be held. :o)

Erika got to have shots as well, and it's been since she turned one. I'm a little behind. :o) She was so brave and sat all by herself just holding my hand. The nurse kept on insisting that she sit on my lap, but Erika refused and said she could do it. She did and she did such a good job. She cried and I cried right along with her. :( I think it's harder on the parent than the child..... She stopped crying as soon as she was done, so it was only for a split second and then hopped down to pick out her stickers.

Kaden's purple band-aids and Erika's special star band-aid

What great kids we have!!! We are so blessed and I can't believe how much love those little ones bring out in us. What would life be like without them? I often wonder this and I'm so grateful to have them in my life. (I realize I upload more pictures of Kaden than Erika, it's because she HATES the camera and RUNS from me!!! I have to bribe her.....)

Your family is so sweet. The kids are getting so big! I miss you guys terribly! I love your blog! It is so fun and upbeat. I love your family photo in Texas and your header as well! Sounds like things are great for you. I am glad. Keep in touch with me okay!

I hate shots too! Cam had to get three shots on Monday and he just kept crying please no, please no and it just broke my heart. I wish there was an easier way that didn't hurt them. I love the band-aid picture!

Jill first you look so good in your family picture! I agree, shots are not very fun. Though my kids are pretty good. When we had to take the kids to get there flu shots, Lily and Sadie didn't even cry at all. I was so proud of them. Emma however screamed her head off. You would have thought someone was cutting her arm off. It is funny how different kids are! Your son is just so cute. It would be so nice to have a baby in the higher end of the scale. Ethan is just so little. They are starting to get really worried about him. I hate it!

Hi Jill! You've been busy here since I dropped in. I had a long post about "burnin' down the barn' but it got lost, darn it! We still have fun words that are part of our family vocabulary; like 'norgut' instead of yogurt. When we want to go in the water we go get our 'skimmin' soups', and my favorite song was when the kids sang, "given this land, if they live, right- your- sleeves!" (Guess they couldn't figure out what else they were doing with their arms!)
Tell Kirk I did a unit of money in my 5th grade class and the kids received a bill for power and rent on their desks. It was a very long year for me (labor intensive!) but the kids loved it. We earned $, paid bills, and I even had to repossess a desk from a student who got a pink slip and ended up behind in his rent. He worked for the cafeteria lady for two weeks to earn enough to pay his bill and get his desk back. They learned a LOT!!
Lastly, Jennis is the shot story I remember most. This very large Attila the Hun woman pushed her up against a wall to give her a shot. For pity sakes, she was just bitty! It was hardly necessary and got this mama bear pretty angry. A pox on mean nurses! Glad everyone got through it. :)
